Introduction
In class -for about two quaterly terms- we have been studying different short stories to get familiar with the fundamentals of fiction and story-telling. In order to continue to use the blogs you have created for this class, you will research about Nathaniel Hawthorne and his short story entitled, "Dr. Heidegger's Experiment."
Task
This pre-blogging activity will help you know about Hawthorne and his literary work. You will have a week to analyze his chosen story, and prepare your posts for your blog. You will have to analyze the story thoroughly to accomplish what you are required below.
Process
To start getting ready for your blogging which is going to be your Quiz #4 (our last examination prior to the final exam), you are to work individually or take some time to get together with one of your peers to discuss what the story is about.
While you develop the task and look for information to complete it, try to answer these questions or issues that must be overtly answered in your blog.
- Entitle your blog entry as "Dr. Heidegger's Experiment:" Story Analysis
- Please insert a Nathaniel Hawthorne's picture
- Provide a short summary of his biography (No more than a five-sentence paragraph)
- Include your own summary of the story in a five-sentence paragraph
- Analyze the story's plot: conflict, rising action, climax, and resolution
- Analyze all the characters in the story by providing their physical and psychological traits
- Identify the moral or teaching of the story
- State whether you like the story or not in a five-sentence paragraph (Indicate the story's irony)

Conclusion
The idea behind the development of this WebQuest / Quiz #4 is to give you the chance to go beyond the book and what is presented in class. On the other hand, through this online experience you can get acquainted with ways you can express yourselves and give your opinions and insights. Additonally, you will have some kind of "training" for the literature courses you will be taking shortly.
